Review of the Infant optics dxr-5

“I am now going on almost a year of using this monitor, and I still think it’s overall a great monitor for the price. The picture is so clear (in day and night). I uploaded a picture of it to the “customer images” section to show just how clear it is–check it out! I recently babysat for my sister who has a Motorola video monitor (sorry, not sure of the exact model) and the picture quality was very grainy. She said she paid twice what I paid for this monitor, so the price is fantastic for the quality. It has great features as well: one is powersave mode where the video screen turns off until there is activity. You can do the same with audio, which is nice if you don’t want to listen to the hum of your a/c (or other background noise) all night…(read more here: Infant Optics DXR-5 Review)”

“I think this is a great little monitor! You really cant beat the price for the quality you get. I am not into a bunch of frills; to me, a monitor should just serve as a little extra piece of mind. If a monitor with all the bells and whistles (like room temperature reading, etc!) is important to you, then this may not be for you. But if you want a product that has solid essentials – a great clear picture, good audio, and reliable coverage – this definitely does. I was really pleasantly surprised with it upon set up! I would definitely recommend this to all of my parent friends looking for a nice monitor that wont break the bank. My only complaint so far is that I feel like the battery doesnt stay charged that long, but I try to just keep it plugged in as much as I can when in use….(read more here: Infant Optics DXR-5 2.4 GHz Review)”

Our opinion of the Infant Optics dxr-5

With over 3300 reviews and 417 answered question, we had a lot of reading to do.
I always read the bad comments first to see if I can find any thing that comes back over and over.
One thing I found a few times is the interference with the wi-fi in the house and this is sometimes a common complaint about the wi-fi baby monitors.
This unit switches channels as a safety for hackers, but it seems to slow down the internet connection for other devices. A solution is to upgrade your wi-fi to a 5GHz router. This works according a review I read.
But there were more positives comments. 5 and 4 stars added up came to over 60% and the 3 star adds another 9% to the top rating.
You can read all the pro’s and con’s below, but overall we think the Infant Optics DXR-5 is a good deal for the price you pay for it.
If you look for many other features like room temperature sensors you will have to look at another brand and pay a lot more money.
The battery does not stay charged is one complaint we here, so keeping it plugged in was one of the tips from readers we found.
This Infant Optics dxr-5 baby monitor provide you with the basis sound and video with infra red options.
Like always we read comments about the monitor not working and we recommend to call customer service right away to see if they can help.
If your not satisfied send it back and ask for a refund.

Pros and Cons

green-tick-buttonPros:
Here are the pro’s we found that were mentioned most.
a great clear picture, good audio, and reliable coverage. Monitor is fairly easy to assemble and figure out.The range of the monitor is also good. Small and inexpensive. IR quality is good. Even more important is the fantastic customer service we have received.
red-tick-buttonCons:
Here are the top cons for this Infant Optics. Mounting the camera proved to be challenging. interfere with 2.4G wi-fi.
A little flimsy, but it does exactly what I need it to. No sound alert when the battery ends. It only blinks a red light. Key combination to enable features are tricky.
